New Delhi, Oct. 18 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced ex-gratia assistance of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each person killed in the stampede in Kolkata, while those injured in the tragedy will receive Rs 50,000 each.
Expressing deep distress over the incident, Modi conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
In a post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister said, "The stampede in Kolkata is extremely distressing. My thoughts are with those who have lost their loved ones.
