Buenos Aires, Nov. 3 -- Guido Mainero and Victor Cuesta scored second-half goals as Platense beat Central Cordoba 2-0 in Argentina's Clausura tournament.
The hosts broke the deadlock just before the hour when Mainero took a touch to control Nicolas Retamar's pass before rifling a shot past goalkeeper Alan Aguerre on Monday.
Cuesta doubled the advantage 16 minutes from time with a looping header after Bautista Merlini's chipped pass from the edge of the 18-yard box.
The visitors controlled just 38 percent of possession and had two shots on target, slipping to their ninth loss of the campaign. Platense is now 11th in the 15-team Zone A standings with 17 points, seven ahead of last-placed Central Cordoba.
