Panchkula, Sept. 13 -- A massive Panchkula Police sweep through three colonies in Pinjore saw 80 personnel search around 340 houses and slum dwellings, seize 46 suspicious motorcycles-including 17 without number plates-and detain six suspects for questioning.

The early-morning operation in Verma Colony, Bihari Colony and Bangla Colony in Marranwala also led to the recovery of suspected 'bhang' and sulfa, and other suspected intoxicant products from grocery and tobacco shops, a Haryana Police spokesman said.

The crackdown was part of an intensified district-wide drive against suspected criminal, anti-social and illegal activities in areas with a sizeable population of tenants, workers and people from outside the district.
