Chandigarh, July 14 -- The Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, has once again enforced a strict ban on smoking across its campus, warning that anyone found violating the provisions of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act (COTPA), 2003, will face penalties and other action under the applicable rules.

In a circular issued by the Office of the Medical Superintendent, the institute said smoking continues to be reported on its premises despite repeated instructions issued over the years. The administration reiterated that smoking anywhere within the institute is strictly prohibited and called upon all employees and stakeholders to ensure full compliance with the law.
