Kolhapur/Sindhudurg, May 11 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Narayan Rane today justified Prime Minister Narendra Modi's urging citizens to save fuel and avoid gold purchases.

Talking with reporters in Sindhudurg today, Rane, a former union minister, said "there is nothing wrong in this" (PM Modi's appeal to the people).

"The issue of petrol and diesel is a major challenge before the country, and officials as well as public representatives will have to take the initiative to resolve it," he said.
