Panchkula, Sept. 23 -- A national pensioners' body has asked the Centre and the 8th Central Pay Commission to reconsider the 15-year waiting period for restoration of commuted pension, seeking restoration after 11 years as an interim measure and a fresh actuarial review to determine whether the existing period remains justified.
In a representation to the Chairperson of the 8th Central Pay Commission and the Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare, Bharat Pensioners' Samaj (BPS) said the review was warranted in the wake of a September 16 judgment of the Himachal Pradesh High Court and changes in interest rates, life expectancy, mortality patterns and commutation factors.
