Srinagar, Aug. 15 -- People's Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's pitch on women's reservation in his Independence Day address, saying the focus should instead be on protecting the Constitutional values.
"In my view, today is about something much bigger than reservation. Millions and crores of people in this country made sacrifices for the freedom that we got, "she told reporters after attending the Independence Day function at the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar.
Her remarks came in response to Prime Minister Modi's Independence Day speech, in which he urged all political parties to support the implementation of women's reservation in Parliament and State assemblies.
