Chennai, May 3 -- In a shocking aviation security breach perhaps never witnessed in Chennai, a passenger opened the emergency exit of a taxiing aircraft and jumped on to the runway at the Anna International Airport here early Sunday, triggering panic among passengers and crew, besides the security officials.
The incident occurred on an Air Arabia flight that arrived from Sharjah with over 200 passengers and crew on board.
As the aircraft was moving towards the bay after landing, the man suddenly opened the emergency exit door, leapt out, and attempted to flee across the tarmac.
Taken aback, alert airport security personnel, including CISF officials, responded seiftly chased the passenger, detained him and took him into custody.
