Bengaluru, Sept. 4 -- Opposition Leader R Ashoka on Friday accused the Karnataka government of "surrendering" to public pressure by withdrawing its controversial proposal to permit use of five per cent of park land for infrastructure projects, calling it a major victory for the BJP's campaign to protect Bengaluru's green spaces.
Addressing a press conference here, Ashoka said the government had been forced into yet another U-turn after the BJP launched its "Save the Park, Save Bengaluru" campaign.
"The government wanted to commercialise Bengaluru's parks. It has now withdrawn the Bill fearing the BJP's agitation. This is the second victory for the BJP in a month," he said, referring also to the resignation of former minister B Nagendra in...
