Bengaluru, June 3 -- Senior Congress leader G. Parameshwara is set to be appointed Deputy Chief Minister in the new government headed by Chief Minister-designate D. K. Shivakumar, according to party insiders.
The move comes as the Congress leadership finalised the composition of the new Karnataka Cabinet ahead of the swearing-in ceremony scheduled to be held in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
Parameshwara, a veteran Dalit leader and former Karnataka Congress president, emerged as the frontrunner for the Deputy Chief Minister's post after extensive consultations among the party's central and state leadership.
