London, July 6 -- A former women's singles finalist at the Wimbledon Championships,No. 13 seed Jasmine Paolini fought to a three-set victory over Filipina starlet Alexandra Ealaon Monday.
Paolini sealed her spot in the quarter-final with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win on Centre Court, returning to the final eight for the first time since 2024.
It is a first victory for the Italian against the No. 29 seed after prevailing in two hours and 22 minutes, according to olympics.com.
"It was really tough, a rollercoaster: 2026 proved a lot to me," Paolini said.
"There were tough moments, but I kept working with my team supporting me. Every day I'm feeling better, I feel the right way when I compete on court again.
