Panchkula, June 5 -- In a major crackdown on fugitives evading the justice system, Panchkula Police have arrested 146 proclaimed offenders (POs) and absconding accused persons in the first five months of 2026, targeting individuals wanted in serious criminal cases ranging from attempted murder and illegal arms possession to drug trafficking, theft, and cheque bounce offences.

The arrests were made under a sustained special drive launched by the Panchkula Police's Proclaimed Offenders (PO) Staff, reflecting an aggressive strategy to track down criminals who had repeatedly ignored court summons and police notices before being declared absconders by the courts.
