Panchkula, Aug. 26 -- A 26-year-old youth was arrested within 36 hours of an incident in which a young woman was allegedly robbed and molested at knifepoint in Sector 7, police said on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Neeraj, a native of Raebareli in Uttar Pradesh and currently residing as a tenant in Chandigarh, was produced in court which remanded him to police custody for two days.
According to DCP (Crime and Traffic) Amrinder Singh, the incident took place at around 9.30 pm on August 23 in Sector 7. The accused allegedly threatened the woman with a knife, snatched her mobile phone and molested her before fleeing.
