Tehran, Aug. 24 -- Pakistan's Army Chief Asim Munir, will visit Tehran on Monday leading an official delegation as Islamabad steps up diplomatic efforts to promote peace and security in the region, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei said on Monday.
Munir is landing in Tehran at a time when Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will unveil new sanctions against Iran on Monday that he described as "the single greatest financial offensive ever marshalled against an adversary." The move is part of a strategy shift to pile economic pressure on the Islamic Republic as the attack on Iran was stopped on June 17 following the MoU.
