Bhubaneswar, June 20 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced that Pahadpur village in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district will be developed as a "Surya Gram" (Solar Village) under the Surya Ghar initiative.
Addressing a public rally at Rairangpur on the occasion of the completion of two years of the Odisha Government, the Prime Minister said the initiative aims to transform Pahadpur into a model renewable energy village.
Modi, who also visited Pahadpur-the native village of President Droupadi Murmu-said every household in the village will be equipped with solar power facilities to ensure access to free electricity.
