Agartala, July 4 -- The Tripura government is set to commence the procurement of paddy under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) scheme starting from July 11, announced the state's Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury here on Saturday.

He said the government has decided to buy at least 20,710 MT of paddy for the current procurement season. The procurement will be a joint effort between the Food and Agriculture departments, utilising 31 established procurement centres across the state.

He urged eligible farmers to complete their registration in advance to participate in the scheme. The minister assured that the MSP payments, set by the Centre, would be directly transferred to the bank accounts of the farmers. ...
