Kottayam, Aug. 17 -- Kerala BJP leader P.C. George has alleged that around Rs 4.5 crore provided by the BJP leadership for election activities in the Poonjar Assembly constituency was misappropriated by local party leaders.
George said the BJP leadership had provided around Rs 4.5 crore for election-related activities in Poonjar and that the entire amount was entrusted to BJP Central Region General Secretary Saji Kuriyakkad, who was then in charge of the constituency.
He said he had not personally handled any of the money as he did not involve himself in financial matters. After the election, he asked Saji for the accounts and was given a statement showing that Rs 4.45 crore had been spent on the campaign.
