Chandigarh, March 15 -- The Punjab State Legal Services Authority today successfully concluded the first National Lok Adalat of the year, settling a staggering 5.07 lakh cases across the state.
Organised under the patronage of Justice Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and the leadership of Executive Chairman Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra, the initiative resulted in settlement awards totalling Rs 761 crore. The event, held in accordance with the National Legal Services Authority's guidelines, aimed to provide a swift and amicable alternative for dispute resolution, effectively reducing the burden on the traditional judicial system.
