Shimla, May 13 -- The Himachal Pradesh State Election Commission on Wednesday said that a total of 85,462 candidates were found validly nominated for the upcoming Panchayati Raj Institutions elections in the state after scrutiny of nomination papers.
According to the State Election Commission Secretary, Surjeet Singh Rathore, a total of 86,204 nomination papers were received across the state, out of which 742 were rejected during scrutiny.
District-wise, Kangra recorded the highest number of nominations with 19,682 papers filed, of which 254 were rejected, followed by Mandi with 14,619 nominations, including 54 rejected papers. Shimla reported 8,662 nominations, with 49 rejections during scrutiny.
