New Delhi, May 31 -- Over the last six years, more than 75.5 lakh vendors across the country have benefitted under the PM Street Vendor's AtmaNirbhar Nidhi (PM SVANidhi) scheme, said union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal.
PM SVANidhi was launched in 2020 to empower the urban poor and strengthen their livelihoods.
The Minister said that more than 1.12 crore collateral-free loans have been sanctioned under the scheme across the country and more than Rs 17,800 crore have been disbursed to beneficiaries so far.
More than 2.59 lakh loans have been distributed in the north-eastern region, through which financial assistance amounting to over Rs 430 crore has been extended to street vendors.
