Jammu, July 26 -- More than 4,400 Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims left on Sunday for the cave shrine in the South Kashmir Himalayas from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp.

The yatra, suspended on July 19 as a precautionary measure in view of weather advisory across Jammu and Kashmir, particularly along the twin pilgrimage Pahalgam and Baltal routes leading to the holy cave shrine, was resumed on Saturday.

As per officials, a fresh batch of 4474 pilgrims departed from the Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas only for the Baltal base camp.

The batch left in a fleet of 166 vehicles under elaborate security arrangements.

No convoy was dispatched for the Pahalgam route, they said.
