New Delhi, June 2 -- Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Tuesday highlighted the government's efforts to strengthen preventive healthcare, stating that more than 36 crore people have been screened for oral cancer across the country.
Addressing the 2nd Convocation Ceremony at AIIMS Bathinda, Nadda said over 17 crore women have undergone breast cancer screening, while more than 9 crore women have been screened for cervical cancer.
Emphasising the importance of government health programmes, including Ayushman camps at tertiary healthcare centres, the minister said these initiatives have expanded access to screening and monitoring services for non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and cancer.
