Aizawl, July 10 -- Serchhip Deputy Commissioner Paul L. Khuma on Friday flagged off the distribution of 31,789 kg of rice for refugees residing across Serchhip district at the DC Office premises.
Earlier, on July 3, the Deputy Commissioner had issued an order directing that the rice, provided under a Central government scheme, be distributed at the rate of 35 kg per person to refugees whose names appear on the refugee lists prepared by the Young Mizo Association (YMA).
The distribution for refugees living in Baktawng and Chhuanthar Tlangnuam, which are outside the jurisdiction of the Serchhip Sub Headquarters YMA, has been scheduled for July 24.
