New Delhi, June 24 -- Ahead of the monsoon's arrival, PWD Minister Parvesh Verma on Wednesday conducted an on-ground inspection of desilting works underway in the Moti Nagar assembly constituency, and reviewed progress of the citywide preparedness initiatives. The Delhi government has so far cleared more than 30 lakh metric tonnes of silt from the network of the city's drains.

The inspection is part of a comprehensive campaign under which senior officers, Chief Engineers and field teams are carrying out physical verification of roads, drains and critical infrastructure across Delhi to ensure that citizens do not face waterlogging and related inconvenience during the upcoming rains.
