Thiruvananthapuram, Oct. 6 -- More than 200 people will participate in a capacity-building programme at Muthanga in Wayanad to learn how invasive plants, particularly Lantana camara, can be converted into biochar and used to support forest restoration and generate livelihood opportunities.
The programme, being held from October 6 to 9 at Muthanga Forest Station in Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, will train more than 150 members of tribal, forest-dependent and local communities and smallholder farmers in three batches.
Around 50 forest personnel, government officials and community representatives will also participate in the programme and support field-level implementation of the practice in their respective areas.
