New Delhi/Mumbai, Aug. 31 -- In a massive electoral roll shake-up ahead of upcoming assembly polls, the Election Commission has dropped a staggering 2,07,93,916 voters from the draft voter lists in Maharashtra and 47,56,722 in New Delhi following a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) drive.
The extensive house-to-house verification and digitization process revealed that out of approximately 9.78 crore registered electors in Maharashtra, only 7.69 crore records have been successfully verified and digitized. A similar pattern was observed in the national capital, where out of 1.45 crore total voters, only 97,53,507 records made it to the final draft, leaving nearly a third of Delhi's electorate excluded.
