Shimla, Feb. 22 -- Himachal Pradesh government has released Rs. 8.97 crore as rental assistance for families whose homes were completely damaged or rendered uninhabitable during the 2025 monsoon season.

A government spokesperson said here on Sunday that the support is intended to help affected households secure temporary accommodation without financial distress.

"Under the arrangement, rental assistance of Rs 10,000 per family is being provided in urban areas and Rs. 5,000 per family in rural areas, funded entirely from the state's own resources. So far, 2,817 rural families and 88 urban families have benefited from the scheme.

Official data indicates that the 2025 monsoon disaster affected approximately 16,488 families across the state....
