Patna, June 22 -- Altogether 16,136 accused were convicted in 12,166 cases in between May 16 and June 20 this year as part of its intensified campaign against crime in Bihar.
Additional Director General (Law and Order) Sudhanshu Kumar told news persons here today that the police department was making concerted efforts to control crime and ensure swift action in cases affecting law and order.
He said the convictions included 100 persons sentenced to life imprisonment, 44 awarded jail terms exceeding 10 years, 143 sentenced to less than 10 years, and 183 sentenced to up to two years. In addition, fines were imposed on 15,666 individuals.
