Aizawl, July 12 -- More than 100 families had been evacuated from flood-hit areas ofsouthern Mizoram as of Saturday as relentless monsoon rain continued to batter the state, triggering widespread flooding, landslides and road blockades across several districts.

Although the weather turned favourable on Sunday with rainfall easing in many areas, the latest official reports available up to Saturday indicated that thousands of people remained affected by the monsoon disaster.
