New Delhi, April 15 -- Tension gripped parts of North East Delhi after an objectionable object was found hanging at the gate of a temple in the Bhajanpura-Brijpuri area, triggering anger among local residents. A senior police official said that the accused was arrested and sent to judicial custody.

According to police, the incident came to light on Tuesday when information was received at Dayalpur Police Station regarding the placement of an "objectionable/obnoxious material" at the entrance of a temple.

Locals alleged that the act was intended to hurt religious sentiments and disturb communal harmony in the area.
