Bhubaneswar, July 31 -- The Orissa High Court has ordered separate inquiries into the illegal arrest of a 63-year-old Cuttack resident on the basis of a forged non-bailable warrant (NBW), while directing payment of Rs 30,000 as interim compensation to the petitioner.
Justice R.K. Pattanaik held that the materials on record prima facie established that the petitioner had been illegally arrested and detained.
The court directed that the compensation be paid forthwith, adding that the amount would be recovered from the police personnel or court staff found responsible after the inquiries are concluded.
