Bhubaneswar, July 27 -- Close on the heels of union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation following sustained student protests at Jantar Mantar, the Opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and the Congress have stepped up their demand for the resignation of Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond over widespread errors in State school textbooks.

The BJP government had compromised the quality of school education by bypassing the prescribed procedures for preparing new textbooks and revising the syllabus, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Bhakta Charan alleged, briefing reporters.
