Dharamshala, July 11 -- Police in Himachal Pradesh's Nurpur district have arrested a 31-year-old man and seized 428 grams of opium during a crackdown on drug trafficking. The contraband was recovered from a motorcycle by a team from the Thakurdwara Police Post under Indora Police Station during a raid conducted on the basis of specific intelligence.

Nurpur district Superintendent of Police Ilma Afroz told UNI that the team was on routine patrol and conducting anti-narcotics surveillance at Malkana Chowk on July 9 when it received credible information that Sumit Thakur, a resident of Malkana village, was allegedly involved in the sale of opium and was carrying the contraband on his motorcycle (HP97B-3331).
