Mumbai, July 13 -- The ongoing Metro works on Swami Vivekanand Road, a major arterial road in the western suburbs here, have resulted in obstruction of certain storm water drains and left the civic works on the drainage system incomplete even as a vigorous monsoon has set in.

Expressing serious concern over the issue on Monday, Mumbai Suburban Guardian Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar said metro works must not become a cause of waterlogging.

He conducted a joint inspection of the construction works along with senior officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) today.
