Srinagar, Sept. 4 -- An unidentified terrorist was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in an encounter in the Ashdar Gali area along the Budgam-Poonch border on Friday, officials said.
The operation was launched by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF based on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
According to the Army's Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, troops conducting the search operation observed suspicious movement. When challenged, the terrorists opened fire, triggering an exchange of gunfire.
In the ensuing operation, one terrorist was neutralised, while an AK-series rifle and other war-like stores were recovered from the site, the Army said.
