Lucknow, July 15 -- Chairman of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on "One Nation One Election" P P Chaudhary, has commented that "One Nation, One Election" is a visionary approach of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aimed at making democracy stronger and more effective in the national interest.

He stated that since Lok Sabha and Assembly elections were held simultaneously from 1952 to 1967, this system is not against the Indian federal structure.

At the press conference, he explained that during the Congress regime in 1968, President's Rule and the reorganization of some states affected the election calendar.
