Thiruvananthapuram, May 26 -- The Kerala Health Department has announced a comprehensive overhaul of government hospital services with the most significant directive being the implementation of "one bed for one patient" across all government hospitals by urgently expanding bed capacity on a war footing.

The decision comes in response to severe overcrowding in several hospitals where patients are currently being forced to receive treatment on the floor due to lack of beds.

Along with this major intervention, the government will launch a statewide hospital cleanliness campaign titled 'Thudakkam' on May 30, which will also mark the beginning of a broad set of patient-friendly reforms aimed at improving service delivery, reducing waiting time...
