Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 21 -- The Onam flag procession heralding the Kerala Tourism Department's Onam Tourism Week celebrations began from Kovalam on Friday and will pass through all Assembly constituencies in Thiruvananthapuram district before reaching Kanakakkunnu on August 23.
Kovalam MLA M. Vincent inaugurated the flag-off ceremony and handed over the Onam flag to Kattakada MLA M.R. Baiju, who flagged off the procession. Councillor K.S. Sudhir Khan and Deputy Director of Tourism G. Sreekumar were present.
Tourism Minister P.C. Vishnunadh will hoist the Onam flag at Kanakakkunnu on August 23, marking the formal launch of this year's Onam celebrations. The Onam Tourism Week will begin at the Kanakakkunnu Palace grounds on August 24.
