Muscat/Tehran, Aug. 24 -- Oman's Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi is due to travel to Iran on Tuesday as Tehran and Muscat seek to manage shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, Iran's Foreign Ministry said.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday that al-Busaidi would hold "ongoing political consultations" with Tehran as part of efforts by the two littoral states to strengthen peace and security in the region.

The Omani minister will meet his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, to discuss bilateral and regional issues, Baghaei said, adding that the visit was also intended to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, the Jerusalem Post reported.
