Brisbane, July 18 -- French Olympic gold medalist Joris Daudet was eliminated from the BMX Racing World Championships here on Saturday, while women's Olympic champion Saya Sakakibara advanced to the quarterfinals.
Daudet finished fifth in his heat in the men's 1/8 finals, missing the top-four finish required to advance to the quarterfinals on Sunday.
The reigning Olympic champion had failed to finish his Round 1 heat earlier in the day but advanced to the 1/8 finals by winning his last chance qualifying race.
