Bhubaneswar, Aug. 31 -- In a major relief to meritorious students from economically weaker sections of the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities, the Odisha government has decided to exempt them from paying admission, tuition and other fees at the time of admission to government-run medical and engineering colleges and for six months thereafter.

The decision has been taken on the direction of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent deserving students from pursuing higher professional education.
