Bhubaneswar, June 24 -- In a major anti-corruption drive, Odisha Vigilance officials apprehended Prasanna Kumar Pattnaik, Executive Engineer, RWD-I, Rayagada, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a contractor for clearing pending bills and issuing a work experience certificate.
According to Vigilance sources, the contractor had been repeatedly requesting Pattnaik to issue the certificate required for participation in fresh tender processes and obtaining future work contracts.
Pattnaik allegedly demanded Rs 2.5 lakh as illegal gratification for clearing bills worth nearly Rs 50 lakh and issuing the certificate. After the contractor expressed inability to pay the amount, the demand was reportedly reduced to Rs 2 lakh followin...
