Bhubaneswar, Aug. 17 -- Odisha Vigilance on Monday apprehended Dr Satyajit Behera, Assistant Surgeon at Capital Hospital here, while allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from a functionary of an NGO for signing the work certificate of employees engaged by the organisation.
The certificate was required for the drawal of salaries of the NGO employees for two months.
According to Vigilance sources, the NGO had been engaged by Capital Hospital to assist unknown and destitute patients visiting the Casualty department for treatment.
The functionary of the NGO had reportedly been requesting Dr Behera since June 2026 to sign the work certificate. However, the doctor allegedly demanded Rs 30,000 for signing the certificate.
