Bhubaneswar, March 26 -- The Odisha government has introduced a comprehensive three-year excise policy, marking a shift from the traditional annual framework to a longer-term strategy aimed at improving regulation, transparency and revenue stability.

The new policy, covering the period from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2029, was tabled in the Odisha Legislative Assembly by Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan.

The minister stated that the move to a three-year policy is intended to ensure consistency in enforcement and governance while enhancing transparency in the excise system.

The policy will remain in effect until its term ends or until a new policy is introduced by the government.
