Bhubaneswar, May 29 -- In an unsavory incident, a minor tribal girl from Odisha's Dhenkanal district was allegedly trafficked to Uttar Pradesh, sold twice and gangraped multiple times before she managed to escape, police said on Thursday.
The girl returned to Dhenkanal and narrated her harrowing ordeal to police, filing a formal complaint of sexual assault in Jhansi.
Police sources said she was trafficked to UP by a local man who had promised her a job.
"We are trying to trace the person," Kamakshyanagar police said.
In her complaint, the girl alleged that she was confined in the house of one Asish Yadav in Jhansi and repeatedly raped. She was later sold to one Chandrapal Kushwah and was allegedly raped by him and others.
