Bhubaneswar, April 16 -- The Odisha government has decided to implement a Marine Spatial Plan (MSP) aimed at balancing economic growth along the coast with the protection of marine ecology, thereby boosting the state's blue economy.
An MoU to this effect was signed on Thursday between the State Science and Technology Department and the union Ministry of Earth Sciences in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
The agreement was formalized by Additional Secretary Pooja Mishra and Director of the National Centre for Coastal Research, Dr. R.S. Kankara.
The Chief Minister said the MSP would promote sustainable economic development while ensuring the conservation of marine biodiversity.
