Bhubaneswar, July 31 -- The Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch has achieved a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown against interstate narcotics trafficking by busting a cannabis smuggling racket and seizing 497 kg of ganja worth around Rs 2.5 crore.
Acting on credible intelligence, an STF team intercepted a goods carrier truck near Pitapalli under Infocity Police Station limits and carried out a search in accordance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
During the search, the STF officials recovered 497 kg of ganja (commercial quantity) concealed beneath bags of rice inside the vehicle. The estimated market value of the seized contraband is approximately Rs 2.5 cror...
