Bhubaneswar, Sept. 8 -- A watchman and a 13-year-old inmate of a government-funded shelter home in Kendrapara were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a 16-year-old tribal girl who became four months pregnant, police said on Tuesday.
The victim, a native of Jharkhand, was rescued by Childline in Kendrapara on June 22, 2023, and lodged at the shelter home by the district Child Welfare Committee.
Police said she was allegedly sexually assaulted multiple times by the two accused during her stay.
The watchman was employed at the home while the juvenile was staying at the Child Care Institute run by the same organisation.
