Bhubaneswar, Nov. 6 -- The Ganjam District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission today imposed a penalty of Rs 45,100 on Zaikaa Restaurant at Ankuli Bypass in Berhampur for serving butter naan (bread) containing a dead fly and causing an inordinate delay in serving food.
Delivering its order, the Commission, comprising president Satish Kumar Panigrahi and member Saritri Patnaik, held the restaurant guilty of deficiency in service and unfair trade practices.
According to the complaint filed by advocate Shibajyoti Nayak, he had visited the restaurant with his family and an elderly relative on May 11, 2025. The family allegedly waited for nearly two hours for their meal, only to find a dead fly embedded in a piece of butter naan. The restau...
