Bhubaneswar, Aug. 2 -- Odisha Police have seized 432 tonnes of cannabis worth Rs 2,106 crore, arrested 3,699 persons and destroyed illegal cannabis cultivation valued at Rs 1,911 crore over the past two years, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Sunday, emphasising the state government's "Zero Tolerance" policy against narcotics.
Launching the 'Drug-Free Youth-Developed India Pledge Campaign', Majhi said Odisha Police had significantly intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal cannabis cultivation.
Between July 2024 and June 2026, police destroyed illegal cannabis cultivation spread over 63,720 acres, estimated to be worth around Rs 1,911 crore.
